It was originally to be the wedding day between the wealthy Shen family of businessmen and the Nie family of warlords, but the eldest of the Shen sisters and the bride, Qing Xia, are suddenly murdered. Still determined to go ahead with the wedding, the Shen family’s maid, Hu Die, is forced to impersonate Qing Xia to avenge her and marries Nie Zhen, a young marshal from the Nie family. However, when Hu Die discovers that the alleged culprit appears to be Nie Zhen, she becomes even more frightened and uncertain about proceeding with the original plan. Especially as, little by little, she truly falls in love with Nie Zhen and discovers more and more of his kind and honest nature. But is she seeing the real Nie Zhen, or is she slowly falling into his trap?
