A man named Lee Tae, Sunjong’s enemy, becomes the king of Joseon and dreams of an absolute monarchy, while a kingmaker seeks to control the royal family. Lee Tae (Lee Joon) aims to destroy Park Gye Won (Jang Hyuk) and his followers to strengthen his royal authority. Yoo Jung (Kang Han Na) is a free-spirited woman with whom Lee Tae falls in love. Lee Tae chooses Yoo Jung as his crown princess, creating a difficult situation for his family, and he is forced to choose between the person he loves and his family’s plans for revenge.
