Hong Chun Gi’s mother once prayed to the heavens to send a suitor so her daughter could marry, and one day, when an extraordinarily handsome young man 'falls' from the sky right in front of her, she believes he was sent by the heavens just for her. Hong Chun Gi (Kim Yoo Jung) is the first female painter at the Dohwaseo (the royal academy of Korean painting). Not only is she a genius at painting—she also possesses radiant beauty and a brilliant energy, as well as an extraordinary memory. For her, painting is everything. One day, she meets Ha Ram, a half-blind astronomer with a passion for art. Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop) is nearly blind due to an accident during a rain-praying ceremony and can see only the color red. He holds a position in the palace as an astronomer with his own office, where he studies astronomy, geography, the art of divination, and meteorology. After meeting Hong Chun Gi, he discovers that there is a greater mystery surrounding his eyes. Prince Anpyeong (Gong Myung) dreams of a refined and strong traditional Joseon. He appears to be a free-spirited romantic who goes with the flow and loves poetry, literature, and art, but he hides a deep sense of loneliness and walks a tightrope every day. Prince Soo Yang (Kwak Si Yang) is a cruel and ambitious prince determined to become king at any cost.
