The Boy Next Door, Rating: 8. Spoiler alert ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ I had read the novel a while back, and it had intrigued me. But to be honest, I didn’t remember much about the story; however, as soon as word got out that they were making a series based on it, I added the title to my list right away. I’ve read various speculations about the plot, and the most common idea is that P.Cir is a boy who has traveled through the strings (parallel worlds—in physics, it’s believed there are 11). In some ways, this series can be likened to the American film *Sliding Doors*, and also to the protagonist’s disturbed or multiple personality. I’m inclined to believe that P.Cir suffers from multiple personality disorder; the person in black he sees in that room is the part of himself that, up until that moment, had kept the weak and emotional side in check. The black P.Cir is nothing more than the personality his mother created—a shield he forged to protect those he loves. The accident allowed the white P.Cir to take over and reveal himself. The first images he sees are nothing more than a projection of his dreams. The shift in personality also has the ability to alter the body—that’s why the third personality didn’t have the scar; he transformed into a robot after being rejected and following an intense night. And that’s why he doesn’t remember anything. It’s a series that confronts you with the question, "What if?" Just like in the American movie, the protagonist lives in two worlds—the world of ignorance and the world of truth—all set against the backdrop of the subway train. But here there’s the accident and the realization that if she’d left everything in the hands of a psychotic mother, she would have lost everything. The special is nothing more than a controlled dream—these can be guided and influenced—and perhaps, all that time, he did nothing but think about it, ending up in that world. Now I’ll turn my attention to that mother who isn’t really a mother. A psychotic woman who really disturbed me—I can’t believe no one has the power to stop her, except perhaps P.Zone, who, from the very first lines, clearly possesses a strong character and the necessary qualities. I would have liked to find out, in that special episode, if he managed to stand up to her. The final part, with P.Cir lying in a meadow, is nothing more than a teaser meant to turn our ideas upside down. Anyway, scientists say the parallel world exists, and I believe it too.
