The couples are charming in a series with a highly predictable plot, watched almost entirely at fast-forward speed. The idea of couples and romance, alas, belongs to the last century, with all its dominant/submissive stereotypes. Thanks for the translation 🥰
In my opinion, the "Fourever You" project deserves a nine. Warning: possible spoilers As I've read elsewhere, I agree that the main couple wasn't as appealing or engaging as the second one. Perhaps because the two actors’ charm failed to win over the audience. I found the characters a bit too cliché and overly sappy—maybe even more so than the cakes and chocolate featured in the scenes. Ter wasn’t at all determined to cut Hill out of his life; after Hill mysteriously disappeared for a whole year, I understand that when you’re in love, you always want to give a second chance—and that’s fine— but given how they chose to develop their story, it feels to me like their characters weren’t portrayed in an engaging way and come across as boring because of how they dragged it out. I don’t know what to make of the girl who had a crush on Hill; in her defense, I admire her for stepping aside, but they made her disappear in the blink of an eye, without her ever confessing her feelings. The second couple managed to draw me in, maybe because everyone loves the idea of the gruff guy in love. It’s a tired old cliché that still works, though—perhaps because women have a “white-knight” complex and the BL audience is mainly female. I’ll say it here and deny it here—I’m part of that category, but only in my fantasies XD. Their story flows smoothly, but I can’t deny that Jo’s possessiveness toward North—almost to the point of stalking—annoyed me. Not only that, but also putting a price on everything, from a kiss to the seconds in a video. In short, she treated him like he was a prostitute—maybe it wasn’t intentional, but that’s how I interpreted it, and I found it humiliating. The “couple-that-isn’t-a-couple” of the tiger and Nao entertained me, and I was rooting for Ger, but it seems he’ll have to struggle for a long time to finally confess his feelings—even though I think the other guy has somehow figured it out. I just have this feeling. What I was hoping to get an explanation for, though, is the relationship between Dr. Fah and Ter’s friend. What’s their romance all about? We know nothing about them—just glances and unanswered questions. I hope their story gets addressed in the next season, too. I’ll definitely watch it again with pleasure. It’ll be one of my favorites.
It seems we all feel pretty much the same way—the second couple is on a whole different level compared to the first. I can safely say that I hate Ter, and I find Hill bland. I think North, the roommate, is likable and I really like him; and if we’re talking about Johan, then that’s another story...In my opinion, there’s a big difference between the two couples, but I still enjoyed the drama.
@silen_debbie Thank goodness this comment isn't as destructive as the others. Ter gets on my nerves too, but Hill doesn't—I like him. Maybe it's because I've already read all the novels.... Well, then there's North, who's adorable and funny at the same time, and Johan.... Oh my gosh, what can I say.... divine. Plus, the novel about Johan and North is wonderful—it really delves deep into their story and their psychology… it stole my heart, I swear
Given the comments, I can’t help but say… 'This is Italy.” I really don’t understand why the Johan/North pairing is taken for granted. The comments also reveal a certain superficiality in not having researched the source material for the series: well, it’s based on several volumes of novels that include all the couples seen so far plus one more. In fact, the “Fourever You” project will not only have a second part that delves deeper into the stories of Tonfah and Tiphoon, Arthit and Daotok, and Tiger and Dunao over the course of three full years for a total of 24 episodes (8 per couple)—since the first two stories take place during their freshman year of college, while the others unfold year by year (each following the previous one)— so we’ll see the characters grow. There will also be a special episode currently being filmed about Johan and North, primarily in response to fan demand. To say the series is fabulous is an understatement; I’ve watched countless boys’ love dramas, and almost none have captivated me as much as this one—especially thanks to the actors’ talent, particularly those playing Johan, North, Typhoon, and Dunao—and the story isn’t as predictable as other boys’ love stories! I’ve read all the novels—which I’m currently translating into Italian for the fans—and they’re truly beautiful and deeply developed. Each couple has its own story, and the protagonists have their own unique traits. Personally, I’m absolutely crazy about Johan and North, and I’d like to clarify that the money plot is merely an excuse to get closer to North—especially since it’s only mentioned at the beginning of their relationship; it’s explained more thoroughly in the novel. The international fan reaction has been overwhelming, so much so that the actors have held several sold-out fan meetings in Thailand and abroad, such as in Japan and China. The Johan/North couple will remain together, and the actors are already selecting which novels to adapt—in fact, they’ll be the ones choosing them, given just how successful the couple has been! In addition, the Johan/North couple recorded a cover of the theme song and had fan meetings dedicated exclusively to them in both Thailand and China; then, at the end of April, they’ll travel to Brazil together with the Hill/Terr couple. If, as the comments say, the story were “predictable” and so on, I don’t think the series would have been such a huge success! I don’t see what’s predictable about the couples; I’m not crazy about Hill/Ter, but simply because I don’t like Terr as a character. The author of the novels even praised the Johan/North couple! In the novels, as well as in the series, it’s clear that love is explored through the characters’ situations and psychology; moreover, the strong friendship that binds the four medical students and the four freshmen is beautiful. The casting choices were also carefully made and true to the characters in the novels. Honestly, only *Love Is in the Air* really appealed to me and won me over almost as much as this series, but *Fourever You* remains my favorite compared to the many boys’ love shows I’ve watched—which, in my opinion, either had the wrong actors, poor acting, or plots that were too much like a soap opera. Thank you so much for subtitling it in Italian; I hope the second part and the special episode will also be subtitled.
@Giovy75 Honestly, I like all the characters, except for Hill/Terr, but not so much because of Hill as because of Terr, who’s just too obnoxious for my taste. I really, really like Arthit—both physically and as a character—but guys, check him out when he takes off his shirt in the stands during basketball practice…But, as you said from the start, money is just the perfect excuse to get closer to the target he’s been chasing for years—I’m talking about Johan/North. I’d really love to see another series dedicated to the rest of the group; anyway, I’ve added this one to my collection too.
@silen_debbie In the Terr novels, he’s less annoying, but he’s still not my favorite, so I get where you’re coming from. Even though I’m deeply attached to the Johan-North couple—both because of the plot and because I love Maxky (who plays Johan)— I also like the character of Arthid, and the novel dedicated to him and Daotok is definitely the most unique of the five couples—partly because both Arthid and Daotok have traits you wouldn’t expect, and the novels even highlight Arthid’s muscles. As I’ve already mentioned, they’re currently filming the Johan x North special episode, but then they’ll start filming the other 24 episodes; according to the director’s interview, they’re supposed to air them as early as 2025.
I thought the second couple was better than the first; they could have done more in this BL. I found it a little boring—in fact, I skipped some parts. The first couple was cute, but they made it too boring.
@Assujk82 It's true, Ter and Hill aren't the best—they're better in the novels the drama is based on. Johan and North are on a whole other level; I agree. In general, both abroad and in Thailand, there’s been a huge boom around this drama, mainly because of Johan and North and the beauty of the novels, which are very well-known. At the end of May, two special episodes featuring Johan and North will be released (incidentally, the official fandom for the actors playing them, called “6 Tails,” has been established) and by the end of the year, the second part will be released, focusing on the other three couples: P. Tonpha x Typhoon, P. Arthit x Daook, and Tiger x Nao. In Italy, there’s a complete lack of the culture of delving into the novels on which the dramas are based—something that’s standard practice abroad. I’ve been lucky enough to read them all, and they’re truly wonderful—especially the P. Johan x North and P. Tonpha x Typhoon stories. I’ve discovered that, thankfully, they’re all being translated into Italian🙏❤️
Just one note: on a computer, the yellow subtitles with blue borders aren't the best. Please choose fonts that are more readable and simpler. I've also had trouble clearly reading the subtitles in other dramas. Thanks.
