Rating: 8.5 Spoiler alert Taiwan didn’t disappoint me this time. It didn’t quite reach a 9 only because there’s too much music for my taste. A song every three minutes, and I found the melody to be the same all the time. The story, however, is worth it. It tells the story of two brothers who, just as they were about to give their first concert and fulfill their dream, lose one of them in a car accident. Naturally, the survivor is in constant mourning; I bet he hasn’t stopped wondering why he’s the one who survived. But as in every fairy tale, there’s always a savior—first a child, then a teenager—who finds in music a way to end his loneliness. Unfortunately, here too, one of the parents abandoned their child because of work. Inevitably, they start a new life in another state, where they find a new partner and build a happy new family, and only much later do they remember having another child they’d left behind; to ease their conscience, they beg him or her to join them to meet their younger brother or sister. At times, the series was fast-paced, charming, and perfect, but the last few episodes dragged; I set the playback to 2x speed whenever they were singing. The only moving part was Neil’s farewell to his brother. Even though I didn’t cry or feel a lump in my throat, I appreciated that moment. The second couple went almost unnoticed, unlike the secretary, whom I adored. I don’t know if this show will end up among my favorites, but that’s okay anyway. Thank you for this project you’ve given us.
