The story is set in the early 19th century. Goo Hae Ryung is an intern who aspires to become a court historian. However, at that time, it was not acceptable for women to write historical documents. She takes one step at a time to forge her own destiny in Joseon, where Confucian ideals are deeply ingrained. She wants to fulfil her duties as a historian and prove to the world that everyone is equal. As well as the struggles faced by female court historians, the drama will explore her love story with Prince Yi Rim, who harbours a secret of his own.
